Bees in Trees – Traditional Beekeeping in Poland

Piotr Pilasiewicz has a mission. He wants to give honey bees a home in the place they used to live: In the forest.

Piotr is a beekeeper, more specifically a tree beekeeper. In Augustów, in the far north-east of Poland. High up in the trees he builds hollows in which his bees can nest and build their hives. For him, the ancient craft art of tree beekeeping, which dates back to the Middle Ages, serves as an inspiration: for a species-appropriate form of beekeeping and for a life in harmony with nature.
