Teutoburg Forest – Where Man and Nature Coexist
45' (ENG, GER)
Distinctive sandstone rock formations and Germany's tallest statue have made it world-famous. But the region in the west of Germany also has a wild side.
A family of foxes is not disturbed by the crowds of tourists at the Hermann Monument. In the wild and romantic rocky landscape of the Externsteine, kingfishers hunt in small streams. At Lake Schieder beavers cavort alongside boaters and sunbathers. During the day, an open-air museum offers tourists an insight into the rural life of the region; at night, the grounds become the habitat of a large number of fire salamanders. Between the Externsteine and the Hermann Monument, humans and wildlife live side by side.
