NATURE . WILDLIFE
WILD KOREA
In 2018, the eyes of the world turn to Pyeongchang, South Korea, for the Winter Olympics.
For thousands of years Korea was known for its staggering natural beauty. Now it is better known for its decades of conflict. But beyond the battle scars and the fortifications, there is another side to this troubled peninsular. South Korea still boasts areas of great wilderness with intriguing animals, some of which share extraordinary relationships with humankind. Particularly at the hostile frontier between North and South, wildlife flourishes – and scientists are devoting more resources than ever before into studying these hidden habitats.
