BRAZIL – A NATURAL HISTORY
A land of gigantic proportions – Brazil. This one South American country is almost as large as Europe or the USA, respectively. Brazil is energetic, flamboyant and fun – but also overwhelmingly beautiful.
Within its mountains, seas, rainforests, deserts, and millions of miles of rivers are many of our planet’s last wild frontiers; its diversity of life and landscape is second to none. Brazil is a rapidly developing country, and following the Football World Cup in 2014, it hosts South America’s first Olympic Games in 2016. Despite the limelight, surprisingly, most of its animals and regions are still little known. This series explores five spectacular worlds – wild forests, a labyrinth of lakes, and the awe-inspiring coast region to name just a few. In each episode, the viewer will be taken on a journey across some of the world’s most fabulous landscapes and will meet a few carefully selected, charismatic, and little-known animal species.

Fragile Forest
An enigmatic and little-known forest, home to South America’s largest monkey, swifts that fly through waterfalls and birds that take 10 years to learn the right dance moves.

Wild Heart
Brazil has a secret – the wide open spaces at its heart. The grassland that covers the central region of Brazil is the country’s least known habitat, depending on dramatic summer thunderstorms and fire for its character.

Labyrinth of Lakes
The Pantanal is a land of two worlds. The jaguars and giant otters thrive in the dry season but must let the caiman and fish take over when it becomes a vast glittering swamp.

Paradise Coast
There is far more to Brazil’s coast than Copacabana Beach. Whales and dolphins, walking octopuses and ultra-poisonous snakes make Brazil’s 7,500 kilometre stretch of coast one of the most diverse in the world.

Flooded Forest
One in ten species on the planet live in the Amazon rainforest. The sheer size, the diversity of species and the annual flooding of the forest make it a world of close and surprising relationships
