SNOWY OWL – QUEEN OF THE NORTH
The snowy owl glares across the tundra with all-knowing eyes – these owls seem to capture our imagination: but what lies beyond their magical beauty and charm? How do they survive the ever-changing, uncertain resources of the High Arctic?
No other owls are capable of surviving the extreme conditions, whereas the snowy owl is able to hunt through six months of bright sunshine and six months of twilight. This film follows a pair of snowy owls as they breed on the tundra of the High Arctic, 300 miles inside the Arctic Circle. Lemming numbers are low this year. Five owlets hatch and they face a struggle – if any are going to survive.
‘Snowy Owl – Queen of the North’ is an intimate and remarkable story that reveals the truth about these amazing creatures.
