How the longest human chain in history paved the way for Baltic independence.
An almost forgotten story that is becoming topical again today against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine. A human chain more than 600 kilometres long in the Baltic states led to the independence of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in 1989. It was the longest-known human chain in history. This documentary film tells the story of how one woman, despite threats from Moscow, managed to bring two million people onto the streets and end the occupation of the Baltic states by the Soviet Union. How did she manage to mobilise these masses of people in a time without the internet and mobile phones? A story about a peaceful revolution that gives hope.
