Essen Cathedral

Essen for Ruhr! At the origin of this success story is the cathedral in Essen, the nucleus of the city.

The works at the sacral building started in the year 850 at the intersection of major trading routes – after establishing a foundation for religious women. The film Essen Cathedral is a mixture of classical documentary, scenic reconstructions and computer animation. From the devotional beginnings of the Ruhr region and the political rise, from the total collapse to the shimmering metropolis the movie spans over more than eleven centuries.
