Dr. Patrick Hörl is the founder and Managing Director of the factual content label Autentic. The leading production and distribution company, a joint venture with Beta Film, covers the entire value chain of the factual genre, from development, production, co-financing and traditional distribution, to the operation of several FAST and YouTube channels. Additionally, Autentic operates and manages two German-language pay-TV channels in a JV-partnership with SPIEGEL TV and Curiosity Stream.
Before founding Autentic, he worked for Kirch Media, and Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR). Hörl served as Managing Director and Country Manager of Discovery Communications in the German-speaking territories. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and is a graduate of the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film in Munich. He is an award-winning producer, honored with the Bavarian Television Award, and Honorary Senator of the Munich Film School.
Patrick Hörl co-founded and is a shareholder of Documentary Campus, a leading pan-European training program for aspiring documentary filmmakers. Since 2023, he is the chairman of the Board of the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers.
